Myrtle N. Strickland, 95, of Gulfport, formerly of Laurel, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Lakeview Nursing Center in Gulfport. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Rod Smith will officiate. Mrs. Strickland was a retired school teacher and a member of West Laurel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Strickland. She is survived by a son, Jerry Strickland of Gulfport; a granddaughter, Heather Anne Talamo of New Orleans; and a brother, Horace Nicholson of Jackson. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. with Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
