She is pre-deceased by 2 sisters, Clarine Miller Kelsay and Carolyn Miller Kotarides, and 3 husbands, Gerald Joseph (Jerry) Broussard, Horace (Mace) Brown, and Robert (Bob) Young.
She is survived by her daughters Sharon B. Willard (and husband Ken) of Lansdowne, VA, and Suzanne Bearden of Lumberton, NC, sons Gerald Joseph“Joey” Broussard, Jr. (and wife Debbie) of Chesapeake, VA, Robert David Broussard (and wife Tammy) of Virginia Beach VA, and Wade Anthony Broussard of Richmond, VA, 7 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, all from her first marriage to Jerry Broussard, a sister, Barbara Miller Ghigo, of Shelby, NC, and a large extended family of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, stepchildren, and step-grandchildren.
Her second marriage, to Mace Brown, moved her to South Carolina, and brought her five stepdaughters, three of whom survive her; Sherryl Brown Laing, Christy Brown Pritchard, and Lisa Brown. Her third marriage, to Bob Young, grew her family by two stepsons with one surviving, Steve Young.
Jean was social by nature, and throughout her life actively helped others even when beyond her means, and was an active volunteer in her children’s lives and schools, her church, and her community. She loved children, cooking, creative crafting, drawing, crossword puzzles, flowers of all kinds, angels. and studying the bible with an attitude of tolerance to all. Widowed three times, she was resilient, contributed to every community in which she lived, in Norfolk, Va, Manning SC, Chesapeake, Va, and the last four years in Lansdowne, Va, and touched many lives wherever she lived.
Jean’s final resting place will be in the family burial plot next to Jerry (her first husband, of nearly 50 years) in Norfolk, VA.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Dec 27 at 11 am By The Reverend Father Romeo Jazmin. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends in the Chesapeake chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. on Dec 26 from 6-8 p.m.
