Helen “June” (Slater) Deverick, 87, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 8:20 AM, Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Liberty Village of Maryville.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 04, 2020 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Crown Point Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mrs. Deverick was born on June 08, 1932 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Effie Hensley. She married Floyd Albert “Mert” Deverick on July 04, 1951 in Bentonville, AR. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage; he preceded in death on April 05, 2013.
June retired as the Head of Housekeeping at Days Inn, Vandalia. She was a member of Crown Point Church, Vandalia and also participated on many different bowling leagues throughout the years. June enjoyed spending her free time with her grandchildren and going to yard sales.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberley Deverick of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Stefanie Fair and Jennifer Fair, both of Cincinnati; and numerous friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Effie Hensley; step-father, Tom Jarrett; husband, Mert Deverick; four brothers; and one sister.
