Joyce Stier, 95, North Mankato, joined her Savior in his birthday celebration early Christmas morning. Memorial services will be held at 11am Monday, December 30, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
Joyce was born July 21, 1924 to Leslie and Mildred (Wolander) Hysell in Northfield. She graduated from Farmington High School. She was united in marriage to Delmer Stier on December 9, 1946 in Minneapolis. In addition to spending time with her family, Joyce enjoyed sewing, aerobics and fitness classes, and playing bridge. Joyce loved to volunteer and did so for many years with Meals-on-Wheels, MRCI, Pathstone and Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a member for more than 50 years. She was well known for her famous chocolate chip cookies and her "Nanny" brownies.
She is survived by children, Karen (Tom) Pulver of Glen Ellyn, IL, Mary (Bill) Spence of Shakopee, and Tom (Julie) Stier of Mankato; grandchildren, Eve (Brian) Pulver-Johnson, Kate (Elliot) Ness, Dan (Sidney) Spence, Emily Spence, Travis Stier, and Tanner Stier; great grandchildren, Annika, Kirsten, Brandon, Colin, Brody, Sebastian, and Vera; brother, Bob (Anne) Hysell of Walla Walla, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband; son, Jon; parents; and sister, Maylon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or MRCI would be preferred.
