Descendant of Teter Nave, East Tennessee Pioneer, per DNA Kit analysis of Nave/Neff line.
See: Teter Nave: East Tennessee Pioneer: His Ancestors and Descendants by Robert T. and Margaret W. Hougland Nave, Gateway Press; Second Edition edition (2007); Baltimore, MD.
Ancestors begin with Hans Naf (1598-1667) in Canton of Zurich.

I am uncertain how William Sr. is related to Teter Nave, however, my DNA is pointing towards William Henry Nave (1813-1899) through Mary Carrie (Nave) Carden (half third great-aunt) then Henry Nave (1778-1869). More input is needed from other family members.

Relative of Thomas Neff (1829-1883), Memorial ID #75112453 (article attached of family visit).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Husband of Sarah Caroline (Baker) Neff, married 18 September 1852 in Schuyler County, Illinois. William Sr. and Sarah were parents to seven children (see Additional Note below).

Father of William Henry Neff, Jr., Thomas Albert B. Neff, Mathias Alonzo "Tice" Neff, Rhineldo "Scott" Neff, Stephen Curtis Neff, Franklin "Frank" William Neff (died 22 September 1948 in Yates Center, Woodson County, Kansas; cannot locate grave) and Mary Neff (died prior to mother's death in 1896; not listed in will; cannot locate grave; see Note below).

Note:
Mary Neff may actually be Mary May Foster, daughter of Frank Foster and Margaret "Maggie" Mace. Frank and Maggie married 1 September 1867 in Schuyler County, Illinois and Mary May was born ca 1868.

William Sr. and Sarah raised Mary May (Sarah's niece) as their own child. She was living with them under the name May Foster in 1880 per the US census record and possibly in 1870 under the name Mary Neff (the name Mary may have been given to her by the Neffs). Maggie (Mace) Foster may have died shortly after Mary May's birth, however, her grave has not been located. Maggie was, without question, deceased prior to the death of her mother, Nancy B. (Luttrell) Baker Mace Wright, per her obituary (obviously written by family) dated 23 September 1897.

Mary Foster married Levi Fawcett 1 May 1889 in Schuyler County, Illinois and had two sons, Charles William Fawcett (Memorial ID #50881271) and Wheeler Foster Fawcett (Memorial ID #138728777). Mary May died 12 October 1894 in Fulton County, Illinois. Her sons were raised by Levi Fawcett's mother, Elizabeth (O'Dell) Fawcett.

Additional Note:
An independent researcher for William and Sarah (Baker) Neff, who is now deceased, listed a son, Charles Treliono born 1865 who must have died prior to 1870 if he did exist. A biological daughter named Mary was not listed in this research, however, Mary Neff born ca 1868 is listed on the 1870 US census record.
Obituaries are not very accurate, depending upon the source, however, Rhineldo Scott Neff's obituary states "Scott was one of the six sons" (was Charles forgotten because he died so young?) and Stephen Curtis Neff's obituary states "Stephen was the last of a family of seven children" (Charles? or Mary? or maybe Charles was forgotten once again).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
William Sr. was Commissioner of Frederick, Schuyler County, Illinois. As Commissioner, he proposed a new bridge be built over Sugar Creek at or near the old Schuyler bridge site. The new bridge was built in 1873.

William Sr. was buried near the Schuyler bridge per the Schuyler County, Illinois Historical Society. This may have been done per his request or possibly due to the fact that he died of Consumption after a two year battle with the disease.
