WATERLOO -- Philip J. Bailey, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, at ManorCare Health Services. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 8, at Cedar Valley Church, Waterloo; memorials to the family. Philip J. Bailey, of Waterloo died Tuesday December 31 at ManorCare Health services.

He was born October 17, 1938 in Waterloo, son of Leland C. and Peral Neff Bailey. He married Barbara Richard Hahn in 2002 in Waterloo.

Philip graduated from East High School and was employed at Eagle’s as a store manager until they closed. He would travel to new stores to manage and coordinate their order of business leading up to opening day. He and Barbara are long time members of Cedar Valley Church in Waterloo.

Survivors include: three sons, Leland (Stefanie) Bailey of DesMoines, Bryan Hahn of Waterloo, and Kent Hahn Jr. of Waterloo; two daughters, Sandy (Eric) Sietz of Glenwood, and Sharyn Clemen of Waterloo; a sister, Janine Benjamin of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Josh, Kate, Taylor, Kethe, Naomi and Shayla; two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Asher.

Preceded by: his parents; two sisters, Carol Cutsforth and Annette Bailey; a brother David Bailey.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday January 8, at Cedar Valley Church, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

“Papa was a man of many talents; he could play the guitar and piano, and was a craftsman of wood working. He was an avid reader of nonfiction, choosing something about spacecraft or science and enjoyed tennis and trips to the ocean. He loved with his whole heart and will be dearly missed.”
