Killed in a Mine Accident

Joseph Thompson of West Mineral
Caught by Rock.

Joseph Thompson,JR. of West Mineral was killed instantly at Mayer Mine No. 6 near West Mineral, Friday. He was born in Stiatesville, Ohio, July 17, 1883. and was 35 years old.

Thompson waws killed by a fall of rock while at work in his room. Robert Brown, track-layer at the mine was laying a new switch in the room for Thompson, who was helping him with the work. Brown had been mining away some coal to make room for the track. He went to another part of the mine for tools and during his absence Thompson went on with the work. The rock fell where Brown had been working.

Furneral services were held in West Mineral Sunday afternoon, Conducted by Rev. A.J. Bradshaw of this city. Burial was in Cherokee Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, mother and father and several brother and sisters.
