Actress. She was an early 20th century German film actress. She is most recognized for her starring roles in the silent movies of the World War I era. She specialized in comedies, such as "Das rosa Pantöffelchen" in 1913 and "Miss Piccolo" in 1914. She became a popular star of her own "Dorrit" film series as a protégé of film director Franz Hofer. These films included "Dorrit's Chauffeur" in 1915 and "Dorrit's Marital Bliss" and "Dorrit Gets a Job for Life" both in 1916. She played a lovable, yet temperamental teenager, who was dressed in her signature sailor outfit. Dozens of photographs were taken of her in the sailor suit, which were used for postcards and drawn into posters. During a promotional engagement in 1916, she suffered a collapse during a dance routine while on stage and was later prescribed Morphine, to which she became addicted. She was admitted to a sanatorium in Berlin to be weaned from the Morphine. While at the sanatorium, she committed suicide by hanging herself. She was the elder sister of actress Grete Weixler. Although she was very popular during her short career, she is more or less fallen into oblivion in the 21st century.
