Rachel was baptized at age 22 on 15 June 1800 at Neshaminy Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, Bucks, Pa. - Rachel's birthdate was given as 21 Sep 1777 on the baptismal certificate.
Their son, William, was born on 5 September 1799 in Northampton Township, Bucks, Pa. He was baptized on 29 June 1800 at Neshaminy Presbyterian Church of Warminster in Hartsville, Bucks, Pa.

Rachel James Callen died on 3 May 1811 of apoplexy as she was a patient of the Philadelphia Dispensary. Interment was between 4 May to 11 May 1811. Records indicate 11 May 1811. She was buried at the 4th Presbyterian Burial Grounds (now defunct) and all the graves were apparently exhumed and relocated to Mount Moriah cemetery in Philadelphia.
Rachel's husband, Samuel, had become a widower upon her death in 1811 and he moved into the city of Philadelphia about 1826. Samuel had not remarried. His occupation was Stone Mason. Samuel died at age of 78 on 26 July 1838 at his residence. No information regarding his burial but expect that he too was buried at the 4th Presbyterian Burial Grounds. Their residency for most all their marriage was in the town of Warminster north of Philadelphia and rather close to Hartsville.
Samuel and Rachel’s son William Callen applied for membership on 11 December 1815 for Seaman’s Proof of Citizenship in Philadelphia when he was 16 years of age. It is not known how many ship departures he made or what his adult life occupation was.
It appears that William Callen believes he was born in Ireland. He had married to a Mary Jane and has several children.

The original McCallen name appears to have a few variations or alterations such as Mc Callen, Callen and Callan. This is a typical occurrence of many early names in the United States as to become Americanized or due to pronunciations depending on ones education in literacy. It had become apparent that “Mc” was dropped from McCallen surname in this family lineage.
