Mrs. Ella Frances (Curlin) Houze, age 87, of Aurora, Indiana, formerly of Vevay and Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on January 1, 1933 in Rising Sun, Indiana. She was one of 15 children born to the parents of Ernest and Lydia R. (Washburn) Curlin. Frances was raised in Rising Sun and Vevay, Indiana and attended Rising Sun High School. On April 23, 1949 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Frances was united in marriage to John William Houze. This happy union was blessed with five children. Frances and John shared nearly 71 years of marriage together until her death. Frances was formerly employed for Milan Furniture Factory in Milan, Indiana that became Dolly Madison Furniture and for J&J Liquor Store in Aurora, Indiana. Later, she was employed as a waitress for her mother's restaurant in Rising Sun, Indiana and for a Dry Cleaners in Aurora, Indiana. Frances enjoyed gardening, canning, traveling, working crossword puzzles and reading. Frances passed away at 6:35 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020, at the Manderly Health Care Center in Osgood, Indiana.

Frances will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John William Houze of Aurora, IN; her daughters, Donna Romans and her husband, Douglas of Dillsboro, IN and Jackie Votaw and her husband, Joe of Aurora, IN; her sons, Garry Houze and his wife, Gina of Knoxville, TN and John W. Houze, Jr. of Covington, KY; her grandchildren, Endea Smith, Sarah Bedel, Josh Banschbach, Johnny Houze, Allison Schwartz, Michael Cutter, Jackie Lansing, Hayes Banschbach, Nicholas Houze and Ashley Houze; her great-grandchildren, Olivia Sizemore, Parker Hahn, Brogan Schwartz, Lane Cutter, Ava Cutter, Taylor Bedel, Austin Bedel, Mallery Banschbach, Sutter Banschbach and Everett Houze; her great-great-grandchild on the way; her step-grandchildren; her step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul Vernon Curlin and his wife, Beverly of Vevay, IN; her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Curlin of Vevay, IN and her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lydia R. (Washburn) Curlin; her daughter, Linda Kay (Houze) Lansing; her grandson, Adam Banschbach; her brothers and sisters, Daisy Curlin, Laura Jean Kennedy, Ann Croul, Ernestine Lakes, Blanton Curlin, Courtland Curlin, James Curlin, Charles Curlin, J.T. Curlin, Russell Curlin, Dilver Curlin, Wilbur Curlin and Robert Curlin and her daughter-in-law, Tammy Houze.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Fredonia Cemetery on Tapps Ridge in Vevay, Indiana.
