A celebration of the life of Britta Larsson, a Santa Fe native, will be held Sunday, June 7, at 11 am at Patrick Smith Park. Please come with a picnic, song, or memory to share. Britta died at St. Vincent Hospital with her family by her side on March 24. Her ashes were buried where she grew up playing in the foothills of Moon Mountain, next to those of her child, Sean and parents artist Karl Larsson and musician Margaret Larsson, a founding Santa Fe Opera board member. Britta painted in watercolor, played the piano, guitar and recorder and sang folksongs in the 1960's at the Three Cities of Spain. She lived with her partner of 25 years, Ted Carlin, in sunny home filled with art, music, warm dinners and cats. Britta took on the care of her granddaughter, Trinity Redwine. She gathered art supplies, brought in a piano and together they spent many happy hours making art and music. Britta attended Santa Fe High School with her best friend since infancy, Salli Mauzy Harrison. She graduated in 1965. Britta held court daily at Starbucks, telling stories with wit and charm, fearlessly executing the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink. She worked for her sister, Michele Larsson, at Core Dynamics and was known in the Pilates community for her many kindnesses from behind the business desk. Her sons, Adrian Harrison, father of Trinity, Ethan and stepdaughter Bella and Dashiell Harrison, wife Jill, of Denver remember their mother with humor and love.
