Bro. Andy Kight went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 21, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Arretta, two sons Jarrod and Duane, and brother, Jaime.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Consuelo Kight, his children: Todd Kight and wife Pam, Angie Martin and husband Tom, Luke Bess and wife Amanda, Sarah Milum and husband Jeff, Andrew Ryan Kight and wife Lizzie; Brothers: Adrian and Danny.  Grandchildren: Janna Kight, Andrew Kight, Monica Kight, Rachel Kight, Katy Kight, Ty Martin, Gavin Martin, Avery Kight, Summer Bess, Shay Kight, Logen Bess, and Paige Kight.

Born in Warren Arkansa on July 13 1931, Andy spent his childhood working in his families grocery store and in the logwoods as a lumberjack in the summer. His strong stature helped him succeed in the sports he loved to play; basketball, baseball and football. He was a member of the YMCA and loved everything that it had to offer. For college he attended Arkansa A&M on a sports scholarship. In 1950 he decided to leave school in order to follow his family to Texas.

In Texas, Andy spent the remainder of his life working. He was a homebuilder for his uncle John Taylor; Spent time doing metal work and eventually became a foreman in the Pipe yards and member of the Pipe fitters local 211. He even was a lifeguard and clown diver at the Shamrock Hilton hotel. But many know him for his diligent and continual work for the Lord.

In 1967 he surrendered to the call to preach and from then on worked tirelessly preaching the Word of God and ministering to everyone that he would meet. In his 50 years of ministry he lead congregations at Victory Baptist and most proudly, Park Temple Baptist Church. Not only was Andy a leader in the church, he was a leader in his community. He proudly coached baseball, assisted in community plays and volunteered at the local elementary schools. He was known for his passion of Christ, his love for his family and friends, untimely sermons, generous heart, rumbling laugh, famous chili, strong pats on the back, love for sports and last but not least, the white Suburban. He would spend hours creating his special bulletins and handouts that he could easily pass out to any store clerk, waitress or anyone willing to make eye contact with him. He always had an open seat at his dinner table, that his loving wife Connie would dress with his favorite meals. If you met him, you had a story about him and would also receive a word of prayer before your departure.

He is missed by many, but our sorrows are comforted in knowing that he is with the Lord and receiving his deserved gifts from our Heavenly Father.

Visitation will be held at Niday – Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena from 6pm-8pm Thursday, January 23. The funeral service will be at the same location at 10am., Friday, January 24; interment at Grand View Memorial Park. Following the funeral service a “Dinner on the Grounds” will be held in his honor at Park Temple Baptist Church of Pasadena, TX.
