On the ship's list his name is written Philipp Dellinger. As in the German naming custom of the time, he was not called Johann or John this being his saint's name. He was never referred to or called John.
He arrived on the ship "Two Brothers" into Philadelphia 28 August 1750. On the same day another ship, the "Phoenix" carried numerous other emigrants who would end up settling in North Carolina.
