Elnora Woods was born July 17, 1883, in Clyde, Washington Co., Arkansas. She was the oldest child of John Wesley Woods and Loretta (Lola) Ann Simpson. About 1895, John Woods moved his family to the Peavine Community in Goingsnake District, Oklahoma. Elnora met and married Collins MacDonald in 1905. They were the parents of nine children who were 1/16 Cherokee, through their father, Collins. Only Ray Harvey Moreland was born in time to be registered on the Dawes Rolls. Collins was the son of John Moreland and Sarah Jane McDonald. He was Cherokee and registered on the Dawes Rolls as 1/8 Cherokee Blood. Elnora and Collins lived their lives in Adair County. Collins nickname for Elnora was "Pullet" and he would tell his children and grandchildren that while they slept, he and the "Pullet" would waltz the night away. Collins died July 3, 1956 and Elnora, December 8, 1976. Both are buried in the Stilwell City Cemetery.
