Nicholas was born in Rossburn, Manitoba on April 25, 1924 and was one of 11 children to parents Onofrey and Annie Belinsky. He grew up and received his education in Rossburn before moving to Winnipeg in 1942. He then joined the armed forces and served with them for 2 years. Nicholas became employed in the Postal Service where he worked for the next 28 years.
He married Margaret Lydia Crewe in 1956 and they were inseparable for the next 24 years until her death.
Nicholas was known as a quiet, private person with a very pleasant nature.
Hobbies included spending time with his pets, watching Jets games.
Nicholas was an avid member of his local church and attended when able.
