Rachel Jane Richey was the daughter of Dr. John and Sichy (Collings) Richey.

She was a sister to Richard Richey, George Joseph Richey, William Richey, Elizabeth Richey, Martha "Patsy" (Richey) Comer, John "Coonskin" Richey II, Jacob Richey, Phebe (Richey) Bartle, Henry Richey, Sichy (Richey) Davis, Applegate, Isaac Richey, Eli Richey, David Richey and Polly Ann (Richey) Morgan.

She married William Henry Howell on March 1, 1848 in Scott Co. IN. Henry died during the Civil War in Bridgeport, Alabama.

They were the parents of Jesse Howell, Joseph C. Howell, Addeline Howell, Nancy A. "Polly" Howell, Sichy Catherine Jane "Kate" (Howell) Shambaugh and Sarah Emily Howell.
