He married Elizabeth K. Stark on Aug. 17, 1835 in Scott county, Indiana. They had at least six children:

1.) Rebecca Savannah Richey who married John Marion Morrow on Jan. 24, 1856 in Pike county, Illinois.

2.) John A. Richey who married Amanda Minerva Applegate and moved to Texas.

3.) James M. Richey b. 1843 in Indiana

4.) Joseph Henry Richey b. 1847 in Illinois

5.) Sache Elizabeth Richey who married James R. Holford on Nov. 15, 1866 in Pike county, Illinois. She next married J. E. Beller on Aug. 13, 1880 in Ada County, Idaho.

6.) Richard Marion Richey who married Martha Neal. He died in 1927 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Bakersfield, Kern County, California.

After the death of George Joseph Richey, his wife, Elizabeth K. Stark Richey, married Abraham Hollis on Aug. 3, 1856. She died on May 10, 1881 in Payette, Payette County, Idaho.
