"--Mrs. Illges was born in Lancaster county, Pa., January 23, 1837, her father being William Russell and she was of German and Irish extraction. Her father came to Tipton county [Indiana] from Pennsylvania in 1857, and resided here about five years, when he returned to his former state. In 1853 the subject of this sketch was united in marriage to Levi Illges, the ceremony being performed at the home of the parents of the bride in Pennsylvania, and in 1858 they moved to Germantown, Wayne county [Indiana]--" excerpt from the obituary of Elizabeth (Russell) Illges.
