"Passing of Aged Resident
Mrs. Christina Peterson Dies Monday At Home
on Maple Ave.

Mrs. Christina Peterson, one of Minonk's oldest residents, died at her home on Maple Ave., on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Over four years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis which crippled her limbs and caused the loss of her eyesight. Her general health, however, was excellent until about three months ago, since which time she had gradually failed. She had received the tenderest care of her nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Morgan, who have lived with her the past several years. Her friends were numbered in scores and they, too, contributed to the happiness of her last days.
She was a devoted member of the M. E. church since May of 1891, also the Ladies' Aid society of this church, and was always liberal in her donations for charity and religious enterprises. She was a regular attendant at church services until it became impossible for her to walk.
Christina Yost, the oldest daughter of Charles and Margaret Yost, was born in New York City Oct. 30, 1845, but when she was a small child the family moved to Peace Dale, R.I., where she grew to womanhood. She was married Jan. 29, 1865, to Barthol Peterson at Bristol, Rhode Island. Early in 1866, they came to Minonk and located on a farm east of town and had always since lived in this vicinity, excepting two years spent at Walnut. The husband died in April of 1910.
Besides her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Morgan, three brothers survive, Edward and Charles Yost of Peace Dale, R.I., and Albert J. Yost of Warwick, R.I., and a number of nephews and nieces in New England.
Services are being held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at the home, with Rev. O. D. Drake in charge. Burial will be in Minonk cemetery. The pallbearers are J. G. Andrews, H. D. Fuller, A. F. Spires, L. N. Memmen, R. R. Sutton and George Eve. Members of the Ladies' Aid society carried the immense showing of flowers. Music was furnished by Mrs. F. W. Wilcox and Miss Harriet Goodwin, with Miss Carita Spires as accompanist."

Note: According to both the above obituary and Christina's death certificate, she was born on October 30, 1845. It is also likely that she was born in France, since her parents did not emigrate from France to the U.S. until 1848.
