Wilma J. "Corky" Paradise died Monday, June 22, 2009 at the age of 74. She was born July
22, 1934 in Meadville, Missouri the daughter of Stanley and Dorothy (Selleck) Duncan. Corky
was devoted to her family. She gave countless hours in attending activities and caring for her
grandchildren, especially her grandson Collin. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church
and loved golf and playing cards. She was an avid supporter of Clinton Memorial Hospital in St.
Johns where over the years she volunteered thousands of hours. In 2003 she was chosen as
Volunteer of the Year for CMH. Corky served on the Clinton Memorial Hospital Board from 1994
to 2003 and currently served on the Clinton Memorial Hospital Foundation Committee where she
served as chairperson of the Stroke for Life Golf Outing for several years. Corky was honored in
2005 as Volunteer of the Year for the Foundation and in 2008 was presented with a Lifetime
Achievement Award. She was a long time member of the Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary
where she served as chair for many committees and was a past president. In 1992 she was
chosen by her peers as Auxilian of the year. On October 25, 1952 she married John Paradise
and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was also predeceased by a sister, Thelma Ready
and a brother Charles Duncan. Surviving is one daughter, Rosemary (Edwin) Boettger of
Conifer, CO; two sons, Michael (Deb) and Jeffrey (Trish) Paradise all of St. Johns; seven
grandchildren, Keedran (Tom) Thorpe, Nicholas Boettger, Aaron, Tyler, Collin, Karli and Ryan
Paradise; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth; one brother, Robert "Buck" (Katie) Duncan of
Meadville, MO; brother-in-law, Harold Ready of Pueblo, CO. Mass of the Christian Burial will
be celebrated 10:30 AM Thursday, June 25, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109
Linden, St. Johns. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive
relatives and friends 6-8 pm Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at Keck-Coleman
Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm Wednesday at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Clinton
Hospice at P.O. Box 260, St. Johns, MI 48879 for both
