Cullowhee - Alice W. Adams, 78, of the Speedwell Community, died Monday, August 6, 2007, at Skyland Care Center after a period of declining health.

A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County; a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her; she was a seamstress having worked in several plants, an avid quilter, canner and gardener a member of Old Savannah Baptist Church, daughter of the late John and Ardella Wilkes Woodard; preceded in death by her husband, gene Adams who died in 1985; one son, Olin Adams; four brothers and one sister.

Surviving is one daughter, Lucille Queen and husband, Coy, of Cullowhee; one son, Jack Adams and wife, Mary, of Cullowhee; one brother Alvin Woodard of Sylva; four grandchildren, Melissa Henson, Gloria Robinson, Kevin Adams, and Chad Queen; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Melton-Riddle Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Clifford Parker, David Burch and Carl Adams officiating.

Burial will be at Hooper Cemetery-Speedwell.
