The witnesses were William White, William's stepfather, and Rebecca Topping (possibly William's younger sister rather than his aunt of the same name). Emma emigrated to Victoria with William and his extended family per the "Red Jacket", 2035 tons, M. A. R. Pope, Commander. The family sailed from Liverpool, Lancashire, England, on 1 September 1866 and arrived at Melbourne on 21 November 1866. William & Emma were living at Black Rock when Emma died in Melbourne Hospital on 25 May 1904. She was buried in a communal grave 2 days later. There are 15 other burials in the same grave.
