Montella Shifflett, 66, of 143 Bitternut Lane, died June 19, 1985, at his residence. Born in Albemarle Co., on Aug. 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Sell and Mildred Davis Shifflett.
Mr. Shifflett retired from the University of Virginia Hospital, Dept. of Buildings and Grounds.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Houchens Shifflett; two daughters, Mrs. William H. (Arlene) Gibson of Boyd Tavern, Mrs. James S. (Faye) Shifflett of Ruckersville, four sons, Montella C. Shifflett of Charlottesville, Conney Wayne Shifflett of Culpeper, Carl Edwin Shifflett of Roanoke, Billy Joe Shifflett of Charlottesville; one half brother, Robert Estes of Newport News; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Teague & Hawkins Chapel, with Mr. William J. Sleasman officiating. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home, 2260 Ivy Road.
