He will be best remembered to television audiences for his roles in several popular soap operas including 'Leo Russell' on "General Hospital" from 1984 to 1985, 'Eric Stavros' on "Falcon Crest" from 1986 to 1988, 'Craig Hunt' on "Santa Barbara" from 1989 to 1992, 'Edmund Grey' on "All My Children" from 1992 to 2005, 'Dr. Richard Baker' on "Days Of Our Lives" from 2008 to 2010, and 'Detective Mackenzie Johnson' on "The Bay" in 2010. He was born John Kevin Callahan to John Francis Callahan and Irene Loretta Sullivan Callahan in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Baldwin, New York. He was educated locally and at the prestigious University of California in Berkeley, California, as a pre-law student. He later pursued an acting career and went onto appear in films and on television for almost forty years. His last film, the thriller "Loyalty" was completed before his death. He was married twice, first to Linda Freeman from August 7, 1982, until 1994. After they divorced, he married his "All My Children" co-star Eva LaRue (who played Maria Santos) on November 30, 1996, and together they had a daughter, actress Kaya McKenna Callahan born on December 6, 2001. The couple divorced in 2005 but stayed close friends. He was an avid golfer and baseball fan, having also played with the Hollywood All-Stars Softball Team for many years.
