EVELYN CATHERINE BLACK BYRNE, 96, a long time resident of Treyton Oak Towers, Louisville, passed away Monday evening.

Evelyn was known by many as the owner of Parkway Florist which she and her husband started in 1937. She ran the business with the present owner, Harriette Miller until she retired in 1999. She designed at numerous state and national floral conventions and was inducted into The Kentucky Florist Association Hall of Fame in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Byrne; her son, Ronald L. Byrne; her brother, John A. Black; and her parents, James Albert and Henrietta "Nettie" Black. Her survivors include her son, Major General Stewart R. Byrne (Retired) and wife Megan; her grandchildren, MSgt David L. Byrne (Retired) and Chung of Seoul, South Korea, Raymond "Scott" Byrne (Kathy) of Evansville, IN, Catherine Byrne Johnson (Matt) of Louisville, and Captain James M. Byrne of Anchorage, AK; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Byrne of Evansville, IN; and daughter-in- law, Ann Gulley of Evansville, IN.

The family extends their gratitude and thanks for the wonderful care received from the nursing staff at Jewish Hospital and the dedicated staff at Treyton Oaks.
