Active in The Villages community for many years, Carol was an avid member of the Lion’s Club, Off Broadway Players, Starlight Players, The Villages Pops Chorus, The Villages Musical Theatre and The Villages Theatre Company, and her quartet, Silver and Gold, just to name a few. Carol touched the lives of many through her activities and volunteering and greeted everyone she saw with her big smile and a ready hug.
She was fierce, sensitive, brave and non-stop in her drive to serve and care for others. She took great pride in creating good times and wonderful memories with her friends and family. She took care of people every day of her life, even as a child. Whether shopping for a friend or making a meal and delivering it, driving her friends to their doctor’s appointments; if someone was ill or needy she’d be there doing whatever she could to help better the situation. If she saw something that needed doing she did it. She maintained that level of energy and strength by practicing yoga and Pilates and listening to music every morning, without fail.
A bold matriarch of her family, Carol set an example of how to live life with integrity and to its fullest. She leaves behind daughters Kellie, Jean and Shannon. She was a beloved Nana to her 8 grandchildren; Timothy, Ian, Angus and Tanner Winship, Katie, Hilary and Grace Gaumer, and Sophie Markowitz. She also leaves behind her 8 loving and cherished nieces and nephews. We take solace in her powerful faith and know that she is reunited with her husband of 41 years, James Lynch, her daughter Susan Lynch, her parents, Melvin J. and Adeline M. Melanson, and her sister Jean M. Leary and her husband Jim who have lit the path for her journey.
We look forward to a day soon when we can come together, embrace loved ones, friends and neighbors, and celebrate Carol’s life. Two memorials will be held sometime in the next few months: one at The New Covenant Methodist Church in the Villages, Florida and one in Boston, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, Carol’s favorite charities were the Lions Club and The Society of The Divine Savior Salvadorians.(Salvatorians.com)
