Kenneth Edwin Payne, 84 years old, departed this life on June 29, 2021. He was born in Hale County, Alabama, graduated from Akron High School in Akron Alabama. After serving in the Army, he settled with his wife, Jeanette, in Akron Alabama, where they raised their children. Later they moved to the outskirts of Greensboro Alabama where they lived for 30 years. Kenneth worked for many years in the paper industry in Tuscaloosa Alabama. He learned carpentry from his father. He spent many evenings and weekends doing household projects for family and friends often working alongside his twin brother Karl. That love for woodwork carried over into his later years when he took up the hobby of building bird feeders and bird houses. He loved reading novels about the American West. He loved taking pride in keeping a manicured lawn and loved Alabama football as well. Kenneth never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Jeanette Burford Payne, his parents Dolsen and Siddie Payne, brothers Dennis, Ira, Alfred, Oscar, Woodrow, Karl, and sisters Willie Montgomery, and Ruby Tilley. Survivors include his son Kenneth Burdette Payne, daughter Bonita Payne Wadsworth(Gregg), and son Bradley Robert Payne(Aimee). Grandson James Grant Wadsworth, Granddaughter Mary Paige Wadsworth. His sisters Bernice Morrison and Barbara Gilley, and a brother Fred Payne as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held on July 2, 2021 at 10 am at the Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro Alabama. Obituary was Published in The Tuscaloosa News June 30, 2021.
