Elizabeth was born as the first child of David B. Bowers and Caroline Christian Johnson. She appears in each census record for her parents from 1850 to 1900. After her parents died, she went to live in the home of her brother David S. Bowers and Virginia "Jinnie" Miller Bowers. Apparently, Elizabeth was difficult to care for and they sent her to the Tennessee State Hospital for the Insane in Knox County, Tennessee where Elizabeth died due to pneumonia. Her official death record indicates that she was sent or taken back to Hunter, Tennessee for burial. Her death record also indicates that she was married, but I have not seen a marriage record for her. While we do not know for sure that she is buried in the Ritchie Cemetery, it is nevertheless a good guess because of its closeness to Hunter and the fact that David and Jinnie Bowers are buried there.
