Clarence Benjamin (Ted) Elmore, Jr. returned to his heavenly home on February 26, 2018.

Born in Bishopville, SC on February 2, 1933, Ted graduated from Ashwood High School, Bishopville, SC, and Clemson University. He served in the United States Army Intelligence Corps and was stationed in Knoxville, TN where he met his future bride, Mary Jane Gouffon Elmore, daughter of Leon and Mary Gouffon.

Ted was employed with the University of Tennessee Agriculture Department 4-H program working in Jefferson County, TN. He later was employed by Lederle Laboratories as a Pharmaceutical Representative, living in Middlesborough, Kentucky and Knoxville, TN until his retirement. Ted was a member of Ashwood Baptist Church, Bishopville, SC, First Baptist Church, Middlesborough, KY, and Central Baptist Church Bearden, Knoxville, TN.

He was a dedicated son, husband, father, Granddaddy, Bubba, and friend. He enjoyed gardening and sports, especially the Clemson Tigers, Lady Vols and Vols. Over the years he served as deacon, Boy Scout leader, Little and Senior League Baseball coach, Sunday School teacher, school board member, among other volunteer work.

Preceded in death by: his parents, Clarence B. (Ted) Elmore, Sr. and Adelene Smith Elmore, sister, Rebecca Elmore Layton, and brother Charles W. Elmore.

Ted will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Gouffon Elmore, daughter Mary Jane Elmore, son Michael H. Elmore, granddaughters, Angela Watts, Melody Watts, sister, Mary Elmore Barrett, sister-in-law, Bobbie Davis Elmore, nieces, Becky Ann Layton (Doug) White, Patricia Layton (Ricky) Cantrell, Betsy Gouffon (Davey) Kerr, Melverie Elmore Logan, Amanda White (Clay) Cato, Karen White, Kimberly White (Rick) Davis, Jessica Cantrell, Raylee Cato, Presley Gouffon, nephews Marion (Terry) Elmore, Philip (Vickie) Gouffon, Joseph Gouffon, Thomas Gouffon, Brett Cantrell, Clayton Cato, Carson Davis, Brayden Davis, Matthew Gouffon, Brandon Gouffon, and Kirby Gouffon, and special friend, Mr. James E. Battle.

A special thank you to Little Creek Sanitarium, Avalon Hospice, and Caris Hospice for their wonderful care of Ted.

A private service will be held.
