She was born Sept. 26, 1900 in Antonino, southwest of Hays, the daughter of George A. and Mary C. Wassinger Rohr.
Mrs. Gabel was a charter member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a member of Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle No. 503 and former member of the Leisure Club at the church.
She was married to Sebastian P Gabel on Nov. 26, 1923 in Ness City. They moved from Ness City to Topeka in 1935. He died Feb. 18, 1967
Survivors include two daughters, Esther Moulder, Parma, Ohio, and Mary Wiegers, Marysville; four sons, Wilfred Gabel and Edwin Gabel, both of Topeka, Lawrence Gabel, Willis Point, Texas, and Robert Gabel, Plano, Texas; three sisters, Agatha Dugdale and Clara Rohr, both of Topeka, and Sister Alban, Wichita; five brothers, Richard Rohr and John J. Rohr, both of Topeka, Tony Rohr, Great Bend, Albert Rohr, McKenzie Bridge, Ore., and Rudolph Rohr, Redwood City, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Gabel will lie in state from 2 until 9 p.m. Sunday at Brennan Funeral Home where Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle No. 503 Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 17th and Stone.
