Richard Rohr, 89, Topeka, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr. Rohr owned and operated the White Eagle Gas Station in Ness City in the 1930s, and he was a painter for the Atchison-Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from 1940 until he retired in1975.

He was born Feb. 10, 1910, at Antonino, the son of George and Mary Wassinger Rohr.

Mr. Rohr was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Third Order of St. Francis, and he was an Eucharistic Minister at the church. He also was a volunteer at the Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was married to Eleanore Dreiling on June 12, 1939, at Victoria. She preceded him in death Jan. 3, 1994. A granddaughter, Kathleen Buford, preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Father Richard Rohr, OFM, Albuquerque, N.M., and Tim Rohr, Topeka; two daughters, Carol Malecki and Alana Buford, both of Topeka; a sister, Sister Mary Alban, Wichita; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Rohr will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m.
