Death of Jacob Decker.

Jacob Decker, an old and respected resident of Lancaster, died on Wednesday night at half-past nine o'clock at his home, No. 313 Middle street. Death was due to a general breaking up of the system, his illness lasting about a week. Mr. Decker was born in Germany and came to this country when he was twenty years of age. He worked at painting until advancing years compelled him to cease all active pursuits. A wife and the following children survive: Conrad and Charles, of Ronk's station; Miss Maggie, residing in Boston; Mrs. Lizzie Markel, wife of Samuel Markel, of York; Philip, residing near Strasburg, and John and Jacob. The whereabouts of the latter two are unknown. About four years ago they visited Lancaster, and since then the famliy (sic) has heard nothing of them.

The funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon; interment at Woodward Hill Cemetery. -- Lancaster New Era, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 1Sep1892, p. 4.
