December 12th, 1927 - August 24th, 2008

Barrett, Jantje (Schaap-Robben) - 80, Crowes Mills passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 24, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.

She was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Schaap, Kurine, Netherlands. Jantje came to Nova Scotia in 1953 moving to Crowes Mills in 1954.

She enjoyed dancing, fishing, gardening, knitting and socializing with her family and many friends

. She was the wife of the late David Barrett. She is survived by two sisters, four brothers and their families in the Netherlands.

She is also survived by children, Peter (Rose) Robben and children, Laura (Todd), Andrea (Shawn), Amy, all of Truro; Yopie (Darlene) Robben and children, Rebecca (Phil), Melissa (Stephen), all of Truro; Ali (Calvin) Chapman and children, Lawney (Katie) (great-granddaugher, Brie), all of Peterborough, Ontario, Jantje Mae (great-grandchildren, Shaelynn and Jacob), all of Elliott Lake, Ontario, Austin, Winnipeg, Manitoba; John (Michelle) Robben and children, Brittany, Morgan, Alexander, all of Truro; Susan (Keith) Keating and children, Sara (Simon) (great-grandson, Dakota), Tony, all of Truro; Step-children, Cathy (Guy) Lanctot and daughter, Elaine, all of Ottawa, Ontario; Peggy Weatherbee, Calgary, Alberta and children, Darcy (great-granddaughter, Alexis), Jacob and Tara; Dave Barrett Jr., Debert and children, Jeremy (great-granddaughter, Shelby), Bryson and Noah; Helen Barrett, Truro.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th from 7-9 pm; memorial service on Thursday, August 28th at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. David MacLean officiating. Family flowers only.
