BENJAMIN BROWN

Of 2620 Walnut Avenue died at
the Altoona hospital at 3 o'clock
yesterday afternoon. He was horn
at Houston, Tex., Jan. 1, 1885, a son
of Benjamin and Harriet (Mack)
Brown, and married Miss Lillian
Jones. Surviving are his wife, the
following children, Mrs. Naomi
Tucker of Chicago, Miss Dorothy
Brown of Baltimore, Benjamin
jr., at home, Mrs. Mamie Carr of
Altoona, Mrs. Juanita Whitfield of
Baltimore, Miss Eleanor Brown of
Chicago, Nathaniel Brown with the
army at Camp McCoy, Wis., and
Miss Julia at home, and two sisters,
Mrs. Harriet Whitehead of
Richmond, Tex., and Mrs. Gertrude
McKenzie of Houston, Tex., and
a half-brother, Willis Johnson of
Houston. Mr. Brown retired as a
boilermaker helper at the East
Altoona roundhouse in 1946. He
was a member of Arandale lodge,
B. P. O. Elks, and of Mount Zion
Baptist church. Friends will be
received at the Laughlin funeral
home after 7 o'clock this evening.
