Sinclair passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Vancouver, BC in her 102nd year. She was predeceased by her husband Prof. Sol Sinclair. Survived by three children. Interment (wsa) at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Longer obituary follow(ed).

On March 2, 2011, Elsie Sinclair passed from a long and remarkable life.
Services (were) held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
Elsie led an iconic, gregarious life for almost 102 years, affecting in positive ways the lives of many people from the youngest to the advanced elderly and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of all ages, for all ages.
She travelled the world with her husband and collected friendships, corresponding with many of them for decades, prior to and including the Internet era. Her travels took her and her husband to his two-plus year assignment advising the newly independent Kenyan government.
Complimenting his achievements, Elsie was instrumental in fundraising for education for a Kenyan orphanage.
Elsie also was active on the Winnipeg scene utilizing the same skills for many academic and social organizations.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband Prof. Sol Sinclair. She is survived by her three children and their familes, with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Many people, young and old alike, call Elsie a Role Model for successful ageing since she engaged life with zest, curiosity and passion to the very end. Elsie was always the optimist beginning each day with the thought, what good thing is going to happen today. Her athletic and game skills (such as golf and bridge) were impressive and she undertook them with a fiercely competitive drive. Even in her mid-90s, Elsie tobogganed and hiked hills of northern Arizona, never one to give up fully engaging in life's activities.
