This gravesite is in Oleander Cemetery that was previously known as "Pottersfield," a final resting place for many immigrants to Galveston prior to 1900. The original Pottersfield was grade-raised after the 1900 Galveston Storm, landscaped, and renamed Oleander Cemetery. Families of the original deceased continued to bury subsequent generations in their plots well into the 20th Century.
