NORTHFIELD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Cheney, 94, a long time resident of Northfield and community, who passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Larson, following a two months illness, were held Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral home. The Rev. Mark Follansbee, minister of the Congregational-Baptist church, officiated. Burial was made in Groveland Cemetery, Dundas. During the service Miss Isabel Howland sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "In The Garden." She was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Donald Klinefelter. Pallbearers were Harvey Cheney, John Holmes, Arthur Terry, Louis Pleschourt, Haaken Hanson and William Rose. Mrs. Cheney was born March 26, 1865, at Coldwater, Mich. She was married on April 2, 1884 to Frank Cheney, who had lived in Minnesota since his early childhood. They came to the Cheney farm, which has been homesteaded by Mr. Cheney's parents, and on which her husband had lived most of his lifetime. They made their home on the farm for 25 years before she came to Northfield. Mr. Cheney passed away in 1908 and she continued to live on the farm until 1912, when she purchased the home at 906 Union street where she had made her home for several years. The farm was then operated by Mr. and Mrs. Larson. She had been in failing health since suffering a stroke three years ago when she returned to the farm to make her home with her son-in-law and daughter. Mrs. Cheney was a member of the Congregational church for 47 years and for many years was active in the church work. She was active in Red Cross Work during World War I and for many years was active in the W.C.T.U. She is suvrived by her daughter, Mrs. Larson; three grandchildren, Carl and Earl Schultheiss and Mrs. Jordan; 12 great-grandchildren; ten living nieces and nephews and many grand, great-grand and great-great-grand nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Schultheiss, who made her home with her in Northfield, passed away four years ago. A son, Eugene, died when he was 39 years of age and two other children Laura and Ernest died as teen-agers. Another child died in infancy.
