Bergeron, A. – Born July 09, 1840 , he enlisted in the PCA June 08, 1861. "A. Bergeron" of the Pointe Coupee Artillery is listed as "died of wounds: 1862" and being buried on the campus of the University of Mississippi. He is buried at the Old Soldier's Cemetery, University of Mississippi Campus, Oxford, Mississippi in lot #39.
After much study, he is most likely Alexis Bergeron from Pointe Coupee Parish and is listed on the muster roll for the Fausse River Guards Militia dated March 1862. These men were ordered into Confederate service soon afterward, and his being from Pointe Coupee Parish, he very well could have joined the Pointe Coupee Artillery soon after. He then must have then died as listed above and quite possibly after being mortally wounded at the Battle of Coffeeville of early December 1862. Alexis Bergeron was son to Hypolite Bergeron and Mathilde Lebeau of Chenal.

Not likely Adam Bergeron, maybe b. Oct. 21, 1830, Lafourche (bro to Adolphe)
Not likely Albeard Bergeron b. 1845 bro to Charles
NOT Louis Armogene who died Jan. 02, 1837, Lafourche bro to both of the above.
NOT Ambroise Octave Bergeron b. July 02, 1840, Lafourche Parish, he married in 1866.
NOT Aristed Bergeron – in another unit and lived beyond 1863
NOT Adolphe Amadee Bergeron b. Jan. 27, 1836 of Lafourche Parish, in the 27th La. Infty in 1863.
