Blondena Thorne, age 87, of Lincoln, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born on May 14, 1933 near Warsaw, Missouri the second oldest child of eight children born to John R. and Octavie Peters.

She is survived by her husband Emmett Thorne, whom she married on October 18, 1950, of the home, and two sons; Emmett Leroy Thorne (Donna) of Sedalia, Missouri and Bobby Gene Thorne (Debra), of Arvada, Colorado. Also survivng are five siblings; Juanita McMillian of Republic, Missouri, Wanda Wright of North Kansas City, Missouri, Bill Peters (Arthea) of Agency, Missouri, Careland Jennings of Ballard, Missouri and Peggy Smith of Cole Camp, Missouri, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Octavie Peters, a brother John R. Peters, Jr., a sister Kathryn Greer and a granddaughter Christie Thorne.

Although Blondena spent most of her life around Lincoln and Warsaw, she was a very active person. Soon after marrying, she and Emmett moved to Kansas City where they both worked and saved to buy a farm near Lincoln, Missouri where they spent the rest of their lives together. While on the farm Blondena worked at the Lincoln Community Care Center and then at the Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri where she retired in 2009 at the age of 76.

She loved to travel and she had visited all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. She loved to collect dolls and keepsakes and had selected them from across the country as well as from the many garage sales. She also enjoyed sewing and had made around fifty beautiful quilts. She loved serving others as a nurse and sharing her cooking with her neighbors and her siblings. She did much to keep her family together by her service and outgoing personality. She never knew a stranger and many where blessed to know her.
