Loving daughter of Bennet and Martha Ann [MATTHEWS] GODWIN, and sister to Phinette [Whittington], Hartwell Hiram, Brazilla [Brazell], Troy G., Penuel, Marcella [Bearden], Marcus, and Delitha I. Godwin.

Estella's parents, Bennet and Martha Ann Godwin, were born and married in Johnston County, North Carolina. They settled in Dale County, Alabama, and started their large family. Within the year following the birth of their last child, Bennet and Martha Ann moved to Warren, Columbia County, Arkansas.

On 01 May 1881, at the age of 25, Estella married railroad box-car maker, Uriah Moore, in Columbia County, Arkansas.

Two years and three months later, the newlywed couple celebrated the birth of their first child. Their newborn son became a precious little namesake when he was named after his father.

Little Uriah, who surely held every twinkle in his parents' eyes, passed on at the tender age of 1 year, 1 month, and 1 day. Their baby is buried at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.

During the next thirteen years, Uriah and Estella were blessed with four additional children, Vinson, born in Van Buren (Crawford County), Viola [Moser], born in Waldo (Columbia County), Lorana (a possible namesake for her paternal grandmother) born in and Pine Bluff (Jefferson County), and lastly Marcus Moore at Waldo (Columbia County).

Shortly after the celebrated birth of their last child, loving husbnd and father, Uriah, passed on and left Estella to care for and raise their four surviving children. Estella was never really alone, since her mother was nearby and her brothers' families and farms were in Hempstead. As each of Estella's children grew to adulthood and eventually married, Estella continued to live in Pine Bluff.

During her final months, Estella followed her youngest son, Marcus, to North Platte, Nebraska, after he finished his railraod apprenticeship in Rock Island County, Illinois, to become a boilermaker (as was his eldest brother). Two days after Christmas 1921, Estella passed on from a five-year bought with diabetes.

At the time of her passing, Estella had seven grandchildren. Through Vinson, her eldest son, Estella was blessed with five grandsons, all from Pine Bluff or North Little Rock (Merton "Mert" Franklin, Bertram "Bert", Lawrence "David", Bill "Billy" Charles, Clarence Uriah "Udie"). Through her eldest daughter, Viola Moser, Estella was blessed with two granddaughters and a grandson, all from Pine Bluff (Dorothy Mae [Moser] Pasley, Geneva Theresa [Moser] Tucker, and Franklin Joseph Moser).

Estella is buried in the Bellwood Annex Cemetery directly across the street from Bellwood Cemetery and Graceland Cemetery on Pullen Street in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas.

Estella's burial location was actually one in a section of plots owned by O.F. Moser (Oswald Franklin Moser). Oswald Franklin Moser is Estella's son-in-law and husband to Estella's daughter, Viola.

Estella's grave site is located near a tall, thin tree, and framed by a few rows of unmarked graves. The conservative marker is gorgeous and in perfect condition. The trendy and fashionable font used in creating Estella's marker accurately depicts the style/onset of the Roaring 20s era.

Three obituaries ran in the Pine Bluff Commercial, her hometown newspaper of about forty years. The obituaries ran on 29 Dec 1921, Page 3, on 30 Dec 1921, Page 5, and ultimately on 02 Jan 1922, Page 5.
