Of Festus, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 in his home in Festus, Missouri. He was born March 29, 1928 in St Louis, Missouri, to Charles Francis Conner and his then wife Viola (Dunham). Donald proudly served his country while enlisted in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Donald worked 37 years as an over-the-road truck driver and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union when he retired from Yellow Freight System in 1987. During this period and tenure with Automobile Transport and Yellow Freight System, he drove over 3 million accident free miles, earning a "3 Million Mile Safety Award". During the years prior to, and subsequent to his 35 years of retirement, he and his wife Evelyn enjoyed farming, winter stays in Florida, traveling/camping trips with their Children and Grandchildren, and just spending time with family during the many old fashion fish fries, BBQs and other family functions.

On February 17, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri he was united in marriage to Evelyn Mathilda Thele of Leopold, Missouri. They shared sixty-two wonderful years of marriage together.

He is survived by his: wife Evelyn Mathilda Conner, son Mark Wayne Conner and his wife Susan, daughter Patricia Faerber and her husband David, son Tony Shinkle and his wife Renee, all of Festus Missouri; daughter Rita Messersmith of Dixon, Missouri; son Donnie Conner and wife Debbie Conner of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; son Bruce Conner of Jefferson City, Missouri; sister Sue Hedger of De Soto, Missouri, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his: father Charles Francis Conner; mother Viola Maus; brother Glenn Schaeffer; and sisters, Shirley Martin, Mary Pearce and Pat Jackson. [MAHN FUNERAL HOME]
