William Charlie Garrett, who had been declining in health for several years, passed away at his home in Winona on August 12. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, August 14, at ten o'clock at the Moore Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. W. P. Bailey, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Garrett, a member of the Bethel Methodist Church, was born October 10, 1870, in Montgomery county. He married Miss Laney Dacus in 1889.
Surviving are his wife, five daughters, Mrs. W. H. Burton and Mrs. G. C. Herring, Sr., Winona, Mrs. W. P. Brooks, Houston, Texas, Mrs. W. L. Burney, Ackerman, and Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Pope; two sons, Noel Garrett, Winona, and Elmer Garrett, Houston, Texas; one sister, Mrs. A. S. Fair, Greenwood; two half-sisters, Mrs. Daisy Henderson, Kilmichael and Mrs. Gertrude Stewart, New Orleans; one half-brother, Davis Garrett, Greenville and a host of grandchildren.
