Mr. Mallie Earl Daves, Jr., 78, of Winona, died March 24, 1999 at his residence of heart failure.
A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he was a member of Winona American Legion Post #52 and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3938. He was the owner and operator of Daves Furniture Co. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mallie Earl Daves, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. March 6, 1999 at First Baptist Church of Winona with Rev. John L. Walker officiating and Rev. W.M. Daves assisting. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Parker Daves; a daughter, Christye VanHorn of Winona; a son, David Earl Daves of Winona; three sisters, Willie Mae Skelton, Virginia Trotter and Theresa Blake, all of Greenwood; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sonny Blake, Henry Skelton, Billy Daves, Johnny Daves, Hayden Chandler and David Collins.
Honorary pallbearers were the Mens Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Winona.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Family Life Building, P.O. Box 408 Winona, MS 38967.
