WAYNESBURG, March 16. - George D. Gidley, 67, well known driller in the oil and gas fields of Greene County and a section of West Virginia, died at 11 a.m. today at his home at Glovers Gap, W. Va. His death followed an illness of two years.

Mr. Gidley was born June 12, 1875, at Nettle Hill, Greene County. He was a son of William and Nancy Phillips Gidley. He lived in Greene County for 25 years and for the rest of his life lived near the West Virginia-Pennsylvania state line. In 1900 he married Nannie Hostutler, who survives. There also survive two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Ferrell, New Freeport, and Mrs. Margaret Parshall, Dormont.

He was a member of the Hundred, W. Va. Methodist church.
