Simon was the 3rd of 10 children of Christopher Bair and Barbara Simon.
He was married on July 14, 1842, in Holmes County, Ohio, to Elizabeth Croco by Rev. Edward R. ?ay.
They appear in the 1850 census of Prairie Township, Holmes County, Ohio, and in the 1860 census of Franklin Township, Wayne County, Ohio. He was a farmer. He appears widowed in the 1880 census of Cedar Creek Township, Allen County, Ohio.
In 1900 he is listed age 85 living with his son Christopher in Allen County, Indiana
