Mrs. Doris Coleman Manning, 92, of 5287 Silas Creek Parkway was born Nov. 2, 1910, in Edison, Ga., to the late Robert and Emma Coleman. She departed this life Friday, March 7, 2003, at her residence. She was a member of St. John CME Church for over 75 years. She served faithfully on the pastor's aid and stewardess board until her health failed. Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Mr. A.J. "Smoky" Manning; a son, Norvell E. (Catherine) Manning; two sisters, Mattie McDonald and Carrie Gibson. She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Connie (Selmon) Green; nine grandchildren, Patricia, Bishop S.T. (Shirley), Reginald, Adrian, Christopher Green, Doris (Claude) Harris and Christopher (Ann) Ginyard, whom she raised, Phyllis Manning and Janice (Bernard) Young; 27 great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; and the St. John CME church family. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at St. John CME Church with the Rev. Bobby R. Best officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The family may be contacted at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, 5287 Silas Creek Parkway. (Russell)
