Caroline Mathilda Clements was the daughter of Percy Powers Clements and his wife, Louisa Clements. She was married in 1831 to Nicholas Brown III, as his second wife. Nicholas Brown III, the diplomat, was the son of Nicholas Brown, Jr., Brown University's benefactor, for whom the University is named.
