According to the Sarnia Observer of August 4, 1864, Mr. McComb was killed on the Grand Trunk Railway Line two miles from the Forest Rail Station during the night. He had spent the evening with friends and had indulged freely in alcoholic beverages. Mr. McComb was a widower until his marriage in 1861 to Sarah Butler.
