Funeral Services Held For Winona's Oldest Citizen
Services for Winona's oldest citizen, 94 years old Devotie Billingsley, once sheriff of Montgomery County and a long prominent farmer and landowner, were held at the Winona First Baptist Church at 2:30 on the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 9th, the Rev. C.B. Hamlet officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were, Spence Townsend, B.F. Heath, O.D. Brent, Guy Oliver, Ford Thompson, J.L. Whitehead, Jr., Willie Lancaster and John McDade.
He leaves 3 sons, Henry Billingsley and M.C. Billingsley of Winona, and Dewitt Billingsley of New Orleans; 6 daughters, Mrs. Cleora B. Stone, and Mrs Irene B. Stone of Lambert, Mrs. Celeste B. Wadlington of Memphis, Mrs. Alma B. Shaw of Oxford, Mrs. Connie B. Johnson and Miss Laline Billingsley of Winona; 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

DeVotie's father Captain Thomas Wilson Billingsley died in a Union Prision Camp in Tennessee in 1863 so there is no memorial for him.
