Born in Vanzant, Ky., to Paul and Dimple (Evans) Burton, he had lived in the Gas City area most of his life. A retired truck driver, he drove for Ranger Landstar Trucking from 1979 to 1990. He also drove for Miller Trucking. He married Janice E. "Jan" Miller on Aug. 26, 1989. She survives. He previously was married to Phyllis Stotts, who died in 1986. Mr. Burton was involved with the Ducktail Run for many years. He was a member of the Gas City Moose Lodge. He enjoyed restoring cars and trucks, horses, hunting and NASCAR races.
Additional survivors include daughters, Ronnietta (Doug) Reno, Fairmount, Margie (Dean) Disney, Gas City, and Beth Chaboude, Greenwood; sons, Ned, Elizabethtown, Tenn., Dave Davies, Gas City, and Andy (Janet) Davies, Avon; sisters, Margie (Paul) Henderson, Rockvale, Ky., Lou Ann (Bud) Bennett, Upland, Mary Jane (Mike) Hamm, Gas City, and Nora Kay, Fairmount; mother-in-law, Helen Miller, Marion; grandchildren, Josh Reno, Rachel Deeter, Alan, Morgan and Garrett Disney, Jan and Michael Chaboude and Nathan, Megan, and Marc Davies; and eight great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Ned; and a sister, Jonell Trent.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., with the Rev. Joe Shaver officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery.
